Winter in Williams Lake

With the holiday cheer and season behind us, we are now faced with at least a few more months of winter weather. You can stay inside and wait for spring to come, or you can get outside and enjoy all of the great activities that come with the winter season. Williams Lake is the perfect place to get out and embrace winter and all that it offers. As the premier real estate agency in Williams Lake, we would like to show you why the Lake City shines during the winter months.

Climate

Williams Lake is nestled in a beautiful valley in the heart of the Cariboo Chilcotin in the interior of British Columbia. Williams Lake has four distinct seasons and is the perfect blend of cold weather with just the right amount of snow, which allows for an enjoyable winter climate. With so many different winter activities to choose from, it is no wonder that Williams Lake is a celebrated winter wonderland and a sought after place for people to find their dream homes.

Skiing

Located just outside of the city, Bull Mountain offers over 28 kilometres of tracked cross-country skiing. Bull Mountain was the home to the 2002 B.C. winter games and offers a wide variety of terrain that is sure to suit all levels of skiing. Bull Mountain offers programs for children and adults as well and has a very engaged and active ski club. Come on out and enjoy some great cross-country skiing at your own back door.
Williams Lake also offers great alpine skiing just outside the city. Mt. Timothy is a family oriented ski hill located 45 minutes outside of Williams Lake. Mt. Timothy offers a wide variety of terrain and has over 35 different ski runs to choose from.

Sledding

Williams Lake is surrounded with great sledding opportunities. With mild winter weather and lots of snow, it is the perfect place to get out and enjoy a wide range of terrain. The local snowmobile club, the Powder Kings, are a great resource when it comes to finding like-minded sledders and friendly local knowhow and advice.

Ice Fishing

Williams Lake also offers great ice fishing opportunities. The city is surrounded by great lakes that all freeze over during the winter months. Many of these lakes provide great opportunities to catch rainbow trout or kokanee. Some of the best ice fishing lakes include Dugan Lake, Raven Lake and Chimney Lake. All of which are less than one hour from Williams Lake.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of some of the great outdoor winter activities that are available in and around the city. Regardless of what activities appeal to you, get outside and enjoy the winter wonderland of Williams Lake.
